Les Roches developed a postgraduate diploma in cruise line management in partnership with Silversea Cruises
Les Roches, the Spanish hospitality management academy, partnered with Silversea Cruises on a postgraduate diploma in cruise line management.

Upon graduation, students will have the opportunity to work at Silversea.

Offered at Les Roches' campus in Marbella, the program provides the knowledge and skills to manage and oversee various shipboard functions in addition to aspects of marketing, revenue management and other commercial roles in the cruise industry.

Proximity to Málaga

The Marbella campus was chosen for its proximity to Málaga, an important cruise destination.

'The dedication and ambition that Silversea imposes in its business model are in line with our educational methodology,' said Carlos Díez de la Lastra, CEO of Les Roches. 'The luxury cruise sector is an area yet to be fully explored academically, and promoting this diploma positions us at the forefront, once again, of a specialization that continues to grow year after year.'

'As part of our commitment to offering our guests the very best service at sea, Silversea places great importance on sourcing the industry’s most talented crew members,' Silversea President Barbara Muckermann said. 'Education and training are key in this service-oriented industry, which is growing fast.'

She noted that since becoming part of Royal Caribbean Group, Silversea added six ships in just three years so attracting talented professionals is more important than ever.

'We are delighted to partner with Les Roches, a leading academic institution, to ensure our service remains the best in the industry,' Muckermann said.

Curriculum, study trips, internship at sea or a Silversea research project

During the first semester, students will follow a curriculum focusing on cruise operations, developing luxury guest experiences, learning about luxury accommodation and food and beverage management, sales and revenue, and maritime law. Within this period, Les Roches will offer study trips to Monaco and Miami.

For the final semester, students have the option of a six-month internship aboard a Silversea ship or a real-world business research project with Silversea to earn their diploma.

Upon graduation, there will be job opportunities with Silversea.
